Sanitize

It was very important to us that cleaning Scratchband be both easy and effective. We made if of medical-grade silicone so it is both microwave and dishwasher safe. It’s honestly pretty indestructible. The only issue you may have is that the white knob comes off. That’s super rare, but if you manage to somehow break or lose it (hasn’t happened to us yet but who knows), we’ll be happy to send you a free replacement.

Microwave: Microwave Scratchband until hot to sanitize. There’s noting magical about microwave heating. It’s the heat that kills germs, not some magical radioactivity. Microwave times will vary, so do some tests to see what gets it hot but not scalding. Careful! It’s going to come out hot!

Dishwasher: Just pop it in the dishwasher. This will both sanitize and clean Scratchband. Sometimes the dishwasher can leave a little film in the edges of Scratchband, but this can be easily removed with a dish brush and some water. It’s not permanent.

Handwashing: Hand wash in hot soapy water for 20 seconds–the same way you wash your hands. Sing Happy Birthday twice! You can also wash Scratchband while you wear it at the same time you wash your hands. Make sure to get into all the corners and edges!
